Alice in Circles - Chapter 1 Chapter 1: One Cautiously, Alice peeped through a crack in the door. She couldn't see much but what she could see was quite unlike what was in here. She was exited by this thaught and pushed her head through the inconveniant door. The world was much clearer now. It was tall and in the middle of it all stood a tall tree. Tall apples clung onto its limbs. Cling it was and cling it did, red and darker and Alice, who was still in mind of limbo pulled and twisted the rest of her body through the inconveniant door to find her feet bare. As she took one step towards the tree a single pink butterfly emerged from the foliage into the mouth of a snake coiled about the branches of the tree. It looked at the girl, licked its lips, and proceeded to whisper words of wisdom and power the girl thaught. She could not reply for the snake was no longer present. "Snakes" she said, 'deceptive' she thaught as she reached for what happened to be the ripest and most prized of all the apples which belonged to the tree. The fruit of her actions was bitterly sweet. Now her five foot six body was the size of her feet. The world grew around her five times and six more. As the girl who was Alice sunk into the floor. Alice opened her eyes and was suprised to find that she was not dead. "How terribally lucky" she said. Her eyes panned upwards to find what was now a very large very very tall tree. "A girl?!" It said. "Where are your ears?" It said. "My ears are on the side of my head". "Indeed." It said. "Then listen to this. You are not welcome here. I have a place reserved for only one. Unless you can convince me otherwise you shal have to leave." "Well where will I go?" Said Alice. "Back where you came from ofcourse!" Alice turned around to the inconveniant blue door. From this side it was pink and grotesque. Not something Alice would dare try and fit back inside. "Tree" she said. "If that IS your real name, my name is Alice, I am twelve years old today and I am lost. So, if you would PLEASE help me find a place to be I would be very greatful." "MY name is father. They call me this because I house the many creatures which live inside me. Now, should I take pity on you, I ask that you follow my rules. Do you think you can do that Alice." "Yes" she said. "Anything". "I see. Well first I expect payment. I do not want anything as shalow as money or gold. A favour is all I ask. Second should be fairly obvious. It is that you do NOT explore anywhere marked as 'staff only'. This will be anywhere BELOW floor one. Finally for number three, this is for your own safety, DO NOT LICK THE WALLS. That is all, I hope you enjoy your stay." "Thankyou Father" Said Alice as she stepped through the open mouth of the tree. "Oh, and Alice, I suggest you take caution with the other guests. Some can be a little... Unpredictable." End of Chapter 1
