Enigma Part 1 ******** The rain poured down onto the roof, running down the gutter and dripping gently onto the top of my hair. My numb arms were wrapped around my legs and my head was buried in between, with my tears dripping off my cheeks. As I rocked back and forth I could hear the faint voices of the village people. Roaring with laughter at someone's drunk joke. I gritted my teeth together to stop myself from shouting. The sound of squelching mud made me stop and look up. To my right, I saw two men walking towards the fence in deep conversation. In a blink of an eye one of the men had a small blade on the other mans chest. It took me a while but I soon recognised that the man with the blade on his chest was Mr Wellbrook. He owned the bakery a few minutes from where I sat. "Now, now," Mr Wellbrook said "you said I had three days to-" "I changed my mind." The other man said hastily stepping forward. I could see the heavy sweat coming from Mr Wellbrook's forehead. I shut my eyes tightly when I heard an agonising shout. The village then went quiet. The rain had lightened and the birds made no sound. I opened my eyes and Mr Wellbrook's body lay still on the muddy road. But the other man had vanished. I jerked up from my sleep. Had it been a dream? Mr WellBrook being stabbed? I chuckled knowing it must have been my imagination. I groaned as a shot of pain scorched through my back. I looked around. The sky was pitch black and covered in stars and the village lay asleep. I used a match to turn on the lantern. I held it up and gasped, dropping the light. It hadn't been a dream. _____________________ This is my new story! Sorry this part is so short though!
