Anointed One Write what you will for those who cannot. I applaud the large gain in rank that you got. And I for one agree with its rise Because when YOU write there's insight inside And what you describe with in this is true Opuss is welcoming to those wanting to... I have mentioned no names or identified none Yet still you seek to lecture just one Oh how I wish WE were as righteous as thou To step to the ledge and speak for the crowd Speak loudly, so words fly clear to OUR ear Hold back, not one drop, so the WANTING can hear I will choose to stop and end here my reply If your highness pleases, and still wants to try The people eagerly await your informative plea But as your rank rises the points made for me. And maybe someone-not of your clan Will create a work that rivals the plan But alas the "like" will not see a touch Instead it is piling high For FB and such.

You have missed my point. There is a difference between judging someone on the content and message of their post and judging them simply because you think their style or ability is below your own.

@jessep15 if anyone can be remotely tyrannical it is your stance.. Others may agree that quotes etc are not worthy, but I feel that is disrespectful towards those choosing that medium to express themselves. It is not tyrannical to challenge that view.. It is however petulant to try and claim it as such.

I do not think my talent, if I have any, is above anyone. Recent past aside, nothing I've written suggest it. I read such great work hear, surprised by how few "like"... And find others, good as well, climbing to new heights. It's been brought up a lot I am not the first. I expressed myself- and expected no one to even notice... But I was attacked. Why? Because I made the mistake about writing my thoughts and feelings- and they differed from the mob. +16... Fine, sex poems... Fine, hell, murder, fantasy.... Fine. My Opuss crossed the line? Practice what you preach. I care not for rank. If I did I would just agree and fall back in line.

Yet again, you're not getting where I'm coming from. I read most posts, and I tend to comment a lot, (a little less now, but that's another story). You got a lot of backs up because it appeared you were having a pop in general. I recognised it was more likely to be yet another antiquote/tweet/fb rant. That's why I challenged it, because IMO they have as much right to use Opuss as anyone else and in reality cannot be said to detract from other styles.

Youre right that you're not the first to write negatively about the quote/tweet/fb side of Opuss and no doubt you won't be the last. That's why I've said a few times today some of the backlash seems ironic, but I will disagree with it whenever I read it, regardless of who posts it.

I judged no group on style or ability. I only pointed out the injustice. Hey if Opuss wants to allow rank and like then they unturned make it competitive, and with that comes this. If its truly meant to express words, good and bad, then rid it of the competitive aspect... See who stays.

Now now.. The tone and wording of the piece is unmistakable, that can't be changed. As for rank, if it doesn't bother you, how is it an injustice? I truly don't care about rank or the number of likes someone else's post gets. I just care about my pieces being read and liked.

I don't care about mine. I look at others and wonder why... I got it if mine are shit, fine. But then I read others that are awesome- but they get nothing... Meanwhile so and so picks daisies on a hilltop and its approaching best seller status! That was my thought as I wrote that initial Opuss that caused all this. Any following I deem as self-defense.

@jessep15 the simple stuff rises to the top because people look for an easy read that requires zero thought. That is the majority of posts on Opuss and has been for almost the entire year I've been here. It's the same in every medium though. The simpler and more relatable something is, the more it caters to the masses. The deeper and more thought provoking something is, the less chance anyone will bother to read it. You'd think Opuss being a place for people with a love of literature would change that, but sadly not. That may come off as being pretentious, but it is still the truth. Anyone who says otherwise is deluding themselves.

@Jamtots interesting theory, but does a post that expresses something in a simple way have any less merit or worth than one which expresses the same thing in a grandiose, verbose manner? Although there are many quotes etc, I still think they are outnumbered by poems etc.. But that might just be my perception because I don't take much heed to the stuff that doesn't interest me. I think I disagree with you, yet I am far from deluded

I suppose it does rankle a little when you see the obvious hard work that may go into a certain Opuss, only to see it flounder and be trounced by an FB quite or such, but as Burr says, it's not what we're here for is it really. Who can tell who'll like what? Not everything's for everyone. Quotes? Yeah I'll read them, but they have to be v. clever or v. witty or bloody profound for me to like it. I read and move on, and if it reaches the top, hey ho, lets go. Oh, and yes, lose the ranks. I'm staying regardless. ðð Well written, btw â

@leelee101 yeah the debate was great. Debate is great. I always understood what was being argued, and I agree with the argument made against mine. It really doesn't matter in the big picture. I think through all of the debate, you actually summed it up perfectly above. Next time you should lead with that. LOL!
