The Scottish Play A stage comedy set behind the scenes of a production of Macbeth. It would use Shakespeare's usual five act structure. The main character is the under study to Macbeth and will try anything to make sure the part becomes his own. But after he mocks superstitions and says the name of the Scottish play backstage his plots begin to go disastrously wrong and the whole production ends in chaos. This play would mock theatrical superstitions and the pretentious type of production which imposes its own meanings on the original text.
