Pre-New Year's Resolution a.k.a. Operation Novella-a-Month I've made a decision. It was one influenced by a sinking feeling of stagnation in my #life; a feeling that has grown from a whisper into an all-consuming dread that my dreams and aspirations are slipping through my fingers. I understand that nothing worth getting in #life is easy and realising a true dream requires tremendous amounts of hard work and a little bit of luck, but #life around me seems to be plodding forward and I'm not going anywhere. So I'm starting to make a change, and hopefully this is a step in the right direction. This then brings me to this application. Just by reading the app's description I could hardly contain the thoughts of wondrous possibilities that it could hold, and as a result I thought of the perfect "first step" towards taking my destiny into my own hands... Starting from next year, every month I will write a short story on Opuss. I have always been bad with timekeeping but I have always wanted to write and so my thought process goes that if I can stick to this and write a decent short story each month for a year then I know that with enough effort and management I can do anything I want. Subject matter will vary depending on my mood that particular month but it'll be non-fiction 100% so it should always be something interesting... Maybe if some of the ideas gather interest then I can make them into a full-length novel but for now I don't want to over-promise and under-deliver or get bogged down in trying to fill a word count and miss deadlines. Either way this should be an interesting experience and if time allows I will make blog posts to accompany my writing process or to add commentary to a particular novella.
