Walking With the Past Chapter One: I stare out of the clear window at the bright, blue sky, the birds singing and the fluffy clouds bobbing about in the air. I feel so honoured to be living in a place like this... "Emily! Emily! It's cocoa beans!" Shouts a familiar voice in my ear. I quickly snap out of my daydream to find Mr. Summers peering over me. "Well?" He asks in a stern voice. "I-er, well. What's the question?" I stammer. Mr. Summers looks at me, his pointy nose being so long it's nearly touching my face. I can feel his breath on me, his eyes piercing into mine. Just then the bell goes, signalling the end of the day. I quickly pack up and run out the room, not daring to look back. I can hear Mr. Summers shouting me, but I pretend I can't hear him. BANG! I crash into an open locker and fall to the floor. A sea of eyes, including Mr. Summers' stare at me. I take a huge sigh and then slowly everything becomes a blur. All I can remember was the pounding of my head and the sudden urgent voices fade away. When I wake up I'm in a hospital bed, surrounded by my mum, best friend Sharon and some nurses, all wearing cheesy smiles. A heart monitor is beeping and sirens fill the air as another patient is brought in. A young man walks in the room gripping a clip board to his chest. He smiles at me then turns to a nurse and starts talking 'doctor language' which I can never understand. "Emily! Your awake! I've been so worried about you!" Cries mum who attempts to give me a hug without getting tangled in wires, while Sharon sits at the side of my bed, squeezing my hand tightly. Her jet black hair brushing over my face. "I'm so glad your ok! Mr. Summers is getting well told off! Oh, and this is for you," says Sharon, who then hands me a small box wrapped in pink wrapping paper. I slowly tear open the wrapper, being as careful as possible, when I reach a wooden box. "Hurry up! I haven't got all day!" I open the box to find a gold bracelet with tons of charms on, showing the symbols of our friendship. These included a anchor, when we went on a ship to France and spent a week shopping, another of a bone, symbolising the time when I got a dog and Sharon helped me choose a name and finally, a R for Rihanna, our first concert we attended. I stare at the gleaming gold in my hand, then at Sharon. "It's beautiful, thank you so much!" "It's alright. Oh, and here's your latest charm." In her tanned hand, she held a gold charm in the shape of a eye to show that we're always there for each other. I clicked the charm into place and slipped the bracelet onto my thin wrist. It was the perfect fit. MORE COMING SOON!
