Swamps Of Fortitude The swamps subdue me, but yet I have no fear. For what can I lose, which I should hold dear? There is but one thing that I would say: As the raven comes closer, you shouldn't stray. There is but one thing that I hold dear, But is it far from what I fear? If I could signal before my plight, Upon this person, I'd shine a light. Don't hold close, that which you fear. And instead hold closer those which are near. The swamp will soon surround me, And the raven soon to be. For the last of my freedom I would trade For this last wish to be made. Push away those who hurt, Pull closer those in the dirt. The raven soon draws nearer, And this lesson evermore dearer. If I should go, without a fight, If that an option, that I might. Then put to waste all of this fear, And my last few moments, I should make dear. For what may seem out of my view, May be something you already knew. The people who love you idly watch you here. And whilst they stand there, without a fear. Doesn't mean they do not care, But infact, it's too much to bare. If you can stand it on your own, And your morals remain unblown, And should the safety become evermore dear, Reduce all the horrors, and that which you fear. For on my own, I may be weak. Fighting the raven, I cannot speak. But when those I hold close, are not really far, I can escape this swampy tar. Whilst your vision may not be that clear, There's always those who'll watch over your rear. And whilst those people may not be in sight, They'll always help you, should you get in a fight. As the raven draws forevermore near, The final sight, I look at my rear. All the people I thought would stray, Are not moving. They're here to stay. The final thoughts should lay with you, For that I should expect the same thing too, You draw your rapier for the fight, And soon to follow, the raven made it's flight. The swamp defeated, My sight is now clear, All of the horrors, were nothing to fear. But obstacles to wisdom, Though not what they seem, In darkened surroundings, it needs just a beam. And as you stay with me, the thought is now clear, When the darkness draws nearer, I have nothing to fear. For against all this darkness, I have but one source of light, The ambience of your closeness, which interferes with the plight.
