Star Light This couldn't be happening to me. Astrid thought. Astrid was on a bus to an orphanage because her parents dumped. Why would they do that. Astrid sat in her seat and stared out the window at the icy cold winter weather. She looked at the orphanage as the bus drive up to it. What #life could be behind those terrible looking walls? Who would even know she was there? Why would anyone want to adopt her? #life was stupid. It was just a big nightmare. Astrid even had to leave the boy she had a crush on. He almost asked her out. And the her parents took her and dumped her at age 14. Who would do that? Astride looked up and got off the bus. She took a deep breath. A boy and girl orphanage for 12-14 year olds. She walked into the orphanage with just a small suitcase with the things she loved in it. There were several girls reading and whispering. Some girls were playing board games. A slim pretty lady came up to Astrid. "Hello. You must be Astrid. What a pretty name! This is the room for the 14 year old girls. And this is the way to your dorm." She leaded Astrid through a hallway. "You are sharing a room with Abby, Liana and Carrie. They will welcome you with open arms. Come, I'll introduce you to them." Astrid followed the lady through the hall back to the main room. Astrid saw the lady's name tag. It said Betsy. "Were you an orphan miss Betsy?" Astrid asked in a shaky voice. "Yes sweety. I never knew my mom she left me in a basket an never came back. No one ever loved me except my friend Jennie who got adopted a year after I arrived. I would never talk to anyone. Now I talk to everyone." Astrid looked at her. "My parents said I was stupid and called me bad words. I had survived abortion so they hated me. I have never been loved or cared for. My parents even tried making me drunk. Only one person liked me. He was going to ask me out. I'll never see him again." Astrid told Betsy with tears in her eyes. Betsy looked at Astrid. "I didn't know you had survived abortion! Oh! You poor thing!" Betsy hugged Astrid close. "Don't worry you might meet someone you like at the orphanage. There are a lot of boys here and a lot of girls too." Astrid walked over to meet her three new room mates. Astrid had to admit they were nice.
