The Chronicles Of Lescoban: Book 1- Chapter 3: Going With Bowen I choked on the water I had been drinking. "Me?!" I sputtered. "No that's impossible!!" Bowen opened his mouth to say something, but I cut him off. "No! I'm not some stupid royal!" I yelled, panicking inside. "Now I don't know who the hell you think you are, telling me that I'm the supposed heir to that stupid throne you serve. But I don't care. I am not the princess! Now GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE!!" "Jennifer!" My mother gasped, finally speaking. "You don't speak that way to the captain!" My father spoke, his face pale, "I'm so sorry, my lord. She never acts this way." Bowen smiled. "It's alright. I'm sure it's just because she's been put in a difficult situation right now. It's not every day a farm girl finds out she's the heir to the throne." "IM NOT THE PRINCESS!!" I practically screamed. Even though I kept arguing against it, somehow deep down I knew what he was saying was the truth. I truly was the lost princess. And it scared the hell out of me. "Sir," my mother spoke. "Are you sure Jen is the princess? She's been with us her whole #life. We brought her home with us when we found her...." "By the border to the Human Realm," Bowen finished for her. She shut her mouth, growing paler than she ever had before. I just sat there, staring at the edge of the table. Everything was going way too fast for my mind. "Sir, Jennifer is not the princess," my father said. "We found her by a river. Not even close to the border." Now my father was lying? "I know you're trying to protect her," Bowen was telling him. "But believe me. There is no way she'll ever be harmed while she is under my protection....." "But she's not the princess!" My father argued. "She can't be!" My mother cried. "She is the true princess," Bowen said calmly. "Whether you like it or not." It went on like that, my parents arguing and Bowen trying to convince them, for at least five minutes. Eventually I couldn't handle it anymore. "Stop it," I whispered. They continued, not hearing me. "STOP IT!!!!" I screamed. Immediately they stopped and looked at me. I couldn't look at them as I spoke. "He's telling the truth," I said softly. Then I looked at them all, my eyes full of defeat. "As much as I don't want it to be, what he's saying is true. I can feel it in my bones. I am the lost princess." My parents both stared at me, their faces unreadable. As for Bowen.... "I live to serve you, my princess," he said, bowing slightly and smiling. "Shut up!" I snapped at him. "It's bad enough that I actually am. I don't need you rubbing it in my face." He nodded, saying nothing, but still smiled. "Jen..." My mother murmured. I looked at her. "Are you sure about this?" She asked. I nodded. "Yes, mother. As much as I don't want it to be true, it is. I truly am the lost princess." She blinked a few times to let it register. Then she nodded. My father didn't say a word. He just watched me silently. Sighing, I looked at Bowen. "So," I said. "Now what?" "Now, I take you to the castle so you can learn everything," he told me. I winced. The castle? "Do I really have to go?" He nodded. "Yes. You have to. It's time to go home, your highness." I glared at him. "This is my home. Right here," I told him. He started to say something, but my father spoke. "She's not going anywhere," he growled deeply. I looked at him. He'd never taken that tone with an official. So why was he doing it now? Oh yeah. Because his only daughter was about to be taken from him. Unfortunately I knew I had to go. I had to go with Bowen. And I couldn't let my father blow a gasket over it. So I spoke. "Daddy," I said, using the sweet voice to try getting him to understand. "I have to go with him. I don't want to, but I have to. Don't think I won't come back. I will. I swear to you." "Actually you won't be able to return until your lessons....." I glared at Bowen as he said that and he stopped talking. My father sighed, defeated. "Alright," he said softly. That's all he said. My mother had gone up to her room and we could hear her crying up there. It was pretty depressing. Bowen led me outside and helped me onto his horse. Neither of my parents came out to say goodbye. So it was just me and Bowen. Unfortunately. As we started leaving, he wouldn't shut up about the stupid situation. "You'll never believe how beautiful everything is. The view from the towers is amazing. You'll love it. And then there's your room......" ...........… Later that night, Bowen decided to stop for the night. I groaned, saddle-sore, and started to get off the horse. I almost had my leg over when I felt a pair of hands on my waist, helping me down. When I was standing on two feet on the ground, I turned and looked at Bowen. "Thank you," I said. "You're welcome." He smiled. Looking at him this close, I realized he wasn't actually that bad. For a royal guard. Plus he was seriously good looking. His sun-kissed skin, his naturally highlighted brown hair, those yummy chocolate brown eyes of his. His strong, sturdy jaw was lightly covered in stubble from being unable to shave. His strong, well-built body covered in armor. Even his horse was good looking. As awkward as that sounds. The beautiful dark bay stallion stood watching us silently. Looking up at Bowen, I felt a little nervous being so close to him. He just....made me feel uncomfortable. And not in a bad way. I shook my head suddenly and took a step away from him. "Stop," I told myself. "He's a royal guard. Don't let him get to you." Sighing, I walked over to a fallen tree and sat down. Bowen disappeared for a little while and gathered some sticks for a fire. Once the fire was burning, Bowen came and sat next to me. Neither of us said a word. It was just a deep, awkward silence. Finally, Bowen sighed. "Listen," he said. "I know this is a hard thing for you. It's not everyday a farm girl learns she's a princess." I looked at him. "It's not that I found out," I interrupted him. "It's the fact that I AM a royal. I mean, all my #life I've hated royals. They're all stuck up snobs. No offense." He laughed a little. "None taken. I agree with that. Though not all of them are like that. You're mother, was a great, kind person. At least to her subjects. The humans...eh not so much." I shrugged. I didn't blame her. Humans are....BLECH. "Tell me about her?" I asked suddenly. Bowen gave me a confused look. "My mother." His mouth opened in an "O". "Well, I didn't know her personally," he said. "but I've heard stories about her." The rest of the night was spent talking about my true mother. The 53rd queen of Lescoban. Then we slowly drifted off to sleep.

The Chronicles Of Lescoban: Chapter 2- Unexpected News I ran into the house, calling for my parents. My leg burned like hell, but I didn't care. I had to tell my parents about the almost attack. It was so strange that a beast that was responsible for so many deaths had let me go without even attacking. "Mother!" I shouted. "Father!" Where were they? My mother ran down the stairs, looking worried. "What is it? Who died?" I rolled my eyes. She always said that whenever I shouted for her. She just didn't know how close she was to the truth this time. "Where's Father?" I asked. She sighed. "He's taking a hot bath. It's nasty out there." I scoffed, " You've no idea." Then I remembered what I was going to tell her. "Mother! You're never gonna believe what just happened to me! When I went to get Minnie...." "What in gods name happened to you leg?!" Mother demanded. I looked down at my injured leg. "That's what I was jut about to tell you. Mother...." "SIT DOWN AND LET ME TAKE CARE OF THAT!" She shouted in a panicky voice. I didn't argue. There was no reasoning with her when she used that tone. As she was cleaning my leg, I told her everything that happened. "Mother it was incredible. I was bringing Minnie home and she bolted when lightning struck right next to us. I was going to go get her back, but I fell down a hill and cut my leg in the process...OW!" My mother tightened the bandage on my leg roughly. "Stop your whining and hold still," she scolded. I sighed and continued my story. "Anyways, I landed at the bottom and when I stood up I here a noise. I asked if anyone was there and there was no reply. Then I heard it again. Same thing. I asked and no reply. Then when I started to leave, I heard a growl. Mother, there was one of the wolves. I thought it was going to attack me. But it didn't! It gave me a weird look, then it jumped over me and ran off into the forest. I though it only didn't attack royals." My mother looked at me, her face pale. "It left you alone?" I nodded. She shook her head as if trying to clear her mind. "Well go to bed. Your leg should be healed by tomorrow. It better be. You got chores tomorrow." I sighed and stood up, trying to not put too much pressure on my leg. "Alright. Good night." I turned and headed upstairs. I just happened to see my mother sit down shakily and put her head in her hands as I went upstairs. ................ The next morning I woke up refreshed. I got up out of my bed, not feeling any pain from my leg. Today was going to be a long day. I could feel it in my bones. Something unexpected was going to happen. After getting dressed, I ran downstairs and ate my breakfast. Mother was out in the garden and Father must have gone to market again. As soon as I ate, I went outside to start on my chores. As I reached the barn, I heard a familiar moo. "Minnie!" I cried as I saw her tied to the fence. "She was in the garden when I came out," my father said, coming up behind me. I turned to him. "I thought you went to market?" He shook his head. "Nah. There's too much work to do here today. I need your help fixing the fence. Then I need to take a couple of pigs to the butcher. Do you want to come with me?" I nodded, saying, " Sure. What about my other chores? Should I start on them now or do them later when we get back?" He shrugged. "Go ahead and start on them now. I won't need your help for a little while." I nodded. "Ok," I said and went to go start my chores. I was able to feed the animals and put Minnie in the barn before my father called me to help. I held the planks as he nailed them to the posts. The fence needed to be fixed so we might as well get it done now. It didn't take long to get it done. Then we headed to the pig pen to get two of our biggest pigs. It took a while but we finally got them to the butcher. He gave us fifty shillings for them. On our way back, I told father about the strange incident last night. He didn't say much. Just that the wolf probably sensed a bigger threat than me. That's why it didn't attack. It made sense. As soon as we got back, I had to finish with my chores. Mother had gone inside to start supper, so I had to finish tending the garden. Father went to go mend his trousers that had holes in them. So I was all alone outside. The sun was just starting to set when I heard a horse neigh. I turned to see who it was, grimacing when I saw. It was a knight. Lovely. Just my luck. As he got closer, I happened to see his features better. He was quite good looking. Deep tan skin, stretched over a strong, muscular body. Naturally highlighted brown hair that swayed in the breeze. Dark brown eyes that held the responsibility of protecting royals. I noticed the emblem on his armor. A dark#moonsurrounded by fire. A chill coursed through me. He was Captain of the Guard. Dear god. What trouble were we in that the Captain of the Guard had to pay us a visit? As he drew closer, our eyes met. It felt like he was peering into my soul. Then he spoke. "You. I need to have a word with you." It felt like my heart rose into my throat. Terror washed over me. I couldn't speak. Then I turned and ran into the house. "Mother! Father! Quick! The Captain of the Guard is here!" Father came down the stairs and walked outside calmly. "What can we do for you, sir?" He asked the knight. The knight dismounted from his steed and nodded formally to my father. "Good evening. My name is Bowen. I'm captain of the royal guard. I'm sorry to intrude but I was wondering if I could have a word privately with you and your family." My mother came up behind me, resting her hand on my shoulder. I looked up at her. She didn't look at me. She was focused on what was going on. My father slowly nodded. "Of course. Please, come in." Bowen nodded and came inside. I backed up as he drew near me. He stopped and smiled at me. "What's your name?" I shouldn't say anything. It went against my code. Then again, when do I ever listen to myself? "Jennifer," I answered. He smiled again. "That's a beautiful name. Fit for royalty." I scowled at him and he chuckled. My father led us all into the dining room. "So what did you need to talk to us about, sir?" Father asked him. Bowen sat at the table next to me. I groaned inwardly. "Well," he started. "As you know, we are without a monarch. We've been without one for almost 13 years." My mother scoffed. "Yes because the last ones ran out on us when they realized we had no chance against Mordell."Bowen shook his head. "No," he said. "The reason is because as you might know, the previous king and queen had a child." My mother's eyes widened in shock and my father just blinked, neither saying a word. Apparently they hadn't know that. Then again, neither did I. Bowen continued, "I was young when she was born. But from what I heard, she was beautiful. And Senar wanted her. Badly. In order to protect her, the queen and king ran away with her. But as they got to the border to go into the Human Realm, Senar's army attacked them. We were told everyone had been killed. Until recently there had been no proof of someone surviving the attack. The child had survived. And we have evidence that she has prospered and grown into a beautiful young lady who's ready to take her throne." He eyes rested solely on me as he said that last part. I choked. He couldn't mean me, could he? My father looked at him strangely. "What are you talking about? The Princess is alive?" Bowen nodded, still looking at me. I grew very uncomfortable under his gaze. My father laughed, "Well then if she's alive then where is she? Why hasn't she taken the throne yet?" Bowen then tore his gaze from me and turned to look at my father. My mother still hasn't said a word through all of this. "Because," Bowen said. "She doesn't yet know who she truly is. But she will soon. If she doesn't already. And she's right here. In this home." He turned back to me, his gaze deep and admirable. I froze, a chill coursing through me. Then Bowen gave the name of the princess. "Jennifer."

The Chronicles Of Lescoban: Chapter 1- Peasant Girl The wind blew harshly at my face, already numb with cold. Ugh. Why did I always have to get her? Why couldn't Father get her? "Because your father has to take care of preparing the produce for market," I mimicked my mother. Blech. It's not fair. My name was Jennifer. Just Jennifer. No last name. My parents liked to call me Jen. They weren't my true parents. When I was a baby, they found me hiding among the debris of a battle that had passed. I was only a few days old when they found me. They figured that I had been traveling with my birth parents and we had been attacked by the monsters of Mordell. Lescoban's ancient enemy. So they took me and raised me as their own. Even though #life as a farmer's daughter was tough, I wouldn't trade it for the world. My #life was completely normal. I had normal Lescobanian parents and a normal stubborn ass heifer named Minnie. At least I wasn't living at the castle. I'd kill myself before I let that happen. I hated the royalty. They thought they could just boss us around. The knights were just as bad. But we still had to respect them. Even though they were arrogant, stuck-up snobs. Whenever I mentioned that to my mother, she always scolded me and told me to respect them. I know deep down in her heart, though, she hated them just as much as I did. Well, maybe not as much. I know for a fact though that she didn't approve of the way they run things in Lescoban. Same with my father. Every night he came home from market, he'd start complaining about how tough it was to sell produce at market. Ugh. Stupid royals. I ducked under a low branch as I climbed up the hill, heading to where she normally was. I clutched the rope halter tightly in my hands, the wind trying to steal it away. Thunder struck over head and I gasped. I needed to find her now! Lescobanian storms didn't happen too often, but when they did, all hell broke loose. Finally, I reached the pasture where she was. I sighed in relief. She hasn't spooked from the storm. Yet. "Minnie," I crooned, slowly walking towards her. "Come on. Time to go home." The old brown heifer lifted her head, mooing slightly at my sudden appearance. I reached her and slowly slid the halter on her, stroking her neck softly. "That's my good girl," I said, smiling. I tightened the halter and started pulling her along back down the mountain towards our farm. As we trudged along, the wind picked up even more and rain started pouring down in torrents. Within minutes I was entirely soaked, my clothes clinging to my skin. Minnie wasn't too fond of the weather either. She thrashed her head around every time it thundered, nearly ripping my arm out of its socket. Suddenly, lightning struck right next to us. Minnie screamed a moo and bolted. I held on to the rope as long as I could, but the rope burned my hands. "MINNIE!" I screamed. I took a step forward to try to go after her, but I tripped. The next thing I knew, I was tumbling down a steep and muddy incline. Branches and rocks snagged my clothes, tearing them and cutting my skin. Finally, I landed in a muddy heap at the bottom of the incline. Groaning, I tried getting up. My hands burned from the rope and the mud wasn't exactly helping. At some point during my fall, a sharp rock cut into my leg. Blood was sliding down with the rain into the mud. It burned like bloody hell. I held my hand against the cut, keeping pressure against it as I got up on my knees. "MINNIE!!" I screamed again. Where was that goddamn cow?! After several more attempts with no success, I gave up. The damn stubborn heifer had taken off and I needed to get home to take care of this cut. Groaning, I forced myself to stand up. I tried to keep as much weight off my hurt leg as much as I possibly could. The sky was a very dark grey, brightening as lightning raced across the sky. The rain relentlessly continued to pour down. Wincing, I took a step forward, gasping as pain raced through my leg. It was still bleeding, badly. Taking my shirt in my hands, I tore a strip off and tied it around the injury. I had to stop the bleeding somehow. Suddenly, there was a noise to my right. I turned to see what it was. Nothing. There was nothing there that could have caused the noise. How peculiar. Then I heard it again. This time behind me. "Hello?" I called out. "Is someone there?" Nothing again. I tried again. This time louder. "Hello? I'm hurt. I fell and injured my leg. Can you help me?" Again there was no answer. I felt like a fool calling out for help when obviously there was no one there. Wincing, I turned to leave but froze as I heard a ferocious snarl behind me. I slowly turned around, biting my lip, and faced the beast behind me. Standing above me on a ledge was a massive black wolf. Instantly, I knew what it was. The beast was a Lescobanian Loup Garou. A wolf bred to destroy unknown people within the forest. Only royals could control them. They had a special link with the beasts. The wolves knew which people were royals and which were not. And this one knew I wasn't. It bared its sharp teeth at me, snarling viciously and crouched low. Ready to pounce and end my #life. Shaking in terror, I closed my eyes and bowed my head. Waiting for the end. If only I was able to say goodbye to my parents..... Suddenly, I heard the beast stop snarling. I knew it was about to pounce. So I waited. I'm not sure how long I waited, but the beast wasn't attacking. Frowning, I opened my eyes and looked up at the beast. It stood there with its head tilted, looking at me curiously. I didn't move a muscle. Why it wasn't attacking was beyond me. Then without any warning, it crouched low and lunged. I shrieked and ducked, covering my head. When the beast didn't land on me, I looked up just as it took off running through the woods. I blinked. What the hell just happened? Hey all! So here's the very first chapter of the book. I hope you enjoyed it. But what do you guys think happened? I wanna hear your thoughts! Comment what you think happened!

The Chronicles Of Lescoban:Book 1 Prologue Lescoban--1435 Aleera, the 10th queen of the city of Lescoban, paced around her room. Anxiously awaiting the arrival of her young daughter, Lucinda. The 143 year old queen was getting up in age and had decided now was the right time to bring up the matter of inheritance to her daughter. Her long, dark hair was undone and flowing in the wind. Where was Lucinda? Right then, the young princess knocked and entered into her mother's bedchamber. "Yes, Mother? You wanted to speak with me?" The 8 year old child asked, her dark brown eyes shining with curiosity. Her light brown hair that she inherited from her father, the late king of Lescoban, was braided and rested lightly down her back. Besides her hair and her eyes, she was the spitting image of her mother. Graceful and absolutely stunning. The queen looked fondly down at her daughter then nodded. "Yes, my dove. We have something very important to discuss. Come sit with me." Taking her daughter's hand, the queen sat on her bed. Lucinda quickly scrambled up, tearing her nightgown in the process. "Lucinda!" the queen exclaimed. "Look what you've done! That's the 4th gown you've torn! You must stop acting so unruly and start learning to become more......" She stopped as she saw her daughter's unhappy face. "I'm sorry, Mother," the young princess whimpered, tears coming to her eyes. Sighing, the queen took her daughter's face in her hands, wiping away the tears. "Don't fret, my dove. It was an accident." Slowly, the young princess started to smile again. "Now," spoke her mother. "There's something I need to speak to you about." The young girl looked up at her mother curiously, saying nothing. The queen sighed. "You may not understand this right now, but in time you will. You see, I'm not always going to be around, my dove. And when I am gone, you will take my place. As queen." The young princess' eyes widened at her mother's words. Before she could say anything, however, her mother started talking again. "As queen it will be your duty to follow in my footsteps and continue ruling our people. You must make sure they obey the laws which I have written. If they do not, you must make sure they are punished. Do you understand what I am telling you?" The young princess nodded slowly. "Yes, mother. I understand. I will follow in your footsteps and become a great queen just like you," she announced boldly. The queen smiled at her daughter's enthusiasm. "This is your birthright, my dove. You were meant to become queen. It's your destiny." The princess grinned. Her birthright. Her destiny. Yes. She was meant to become queen. She will not fail. This was her destiny. .................. Many years later, the queen passed on. The young princess became queen not long after. Her rule was strong. Her mother had trained her well, but there still were times when she was unruly. She broke one of her mother's rules one time. She had met a lovely young man in the woods one day. They fell in love. Not long after, the young queen became pregnant with their child. She was so excited that she told her best friend. Her friend seemed horrified that it had happened. That night, the queen was awoken by a strange noise in the courtyard. She looked out her window, growing pale at the sight. Down below, an execution was taking place. It wasn't the execution that horrified her. It was who was being executed. It was her love! She ran through the castle and into the courtyard, yelling for them to stop. They didn't. Her royal adviser held on to her as she struggled, trying to get to her love. To stop the execution. But it was too late. The moment she broke free was the moment the axe came down. After that night, the young queen stopped being unruly. She completely walked in her mother's footsteps. She carried the child full-term, putting the father into the back of her mind. As deep as she could. The pain was too much for her. Then the child was born on a cold, winter night. A beautiful baby girl! The child was named Olivia. Olivia Dawn Thorose. The child was raised in her mother's footsteps. As did her daughter and her daughter's daughter, and so on. Each daughter born to become queen. Each one automatically born into royalty. That is, until one daughter. One daughter with a twin sister. This daughter was the one who would change Lescoban. As was prophesied in a prophesy told a long, long, long, very long time ago. Before Lescoban was even formed. This girl would change everything....... Hey guys! So this is the prologue to the first book of my series The Chronicles of Lescoban. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it!
