Becoming Polly Newport USA, 1995 Newport was the largest port to export goods in the whole of America. It was often known for people to secretly place items on the ships, a great mission in fact with the number of workers to take sight of you, in the hope that your item would get to the address you wanted it to go. Of course, this nearly always was not the case. In Southampton in England, the port workers would often fine the recipient. These people would then probably dispute with the sender via telephone and demand the sender to pay for the costs, the recipient usually being a good friend or family member. The fines were not cheap either; the recipient could be expected to pay up to £500. So why would people make such efforts to get a parcel across the sea? Because people liked to take risks. In fact, this wasn't even a risk to be taken. It would always result in the same consequences and the receipt may have not even gained the parcel. Your actions would always come back to haunt you... *** "It's not right for me to keep you baby. It's unfair for both you and Jasper," said Jennifer to her crying days old baby girl. They were in an old, disused factory of which they were hiding in one of the central rooms, with Jennifer overlooking the dangers. The factory was located just 5 minutes from the port so it was a perfect location for Jennifer to proceed with her plans. At 5.00AM, Jennifer left the building with her child packaged into a cardboard box with just a blanket and a small note written 'take my child and look after her. I wish I could tell you why.' The morning was bitter and had an icy blue glow. The previous night's rainfall had frozen as it touched the floor and had settled as a thin later of ice. Jennifer was careful with her footing. Jennifer reached the gate to the port which met a fence, three metres high. She had planned how to get through this and consequently pulled out a card and swiped it. The gates opened with a loud screech. Quickly, she crept to the right behind a green, wooden shed and to her surprise, she realised her mission would be much easier than she had initially thought...
