Chapter 1: The Other #life Sorry that this chapter might be a bit boring! I promise you that it will get better as it continues. Hope you (kind of at least) like it! * * * Here we are. Are new home sits right in front of us. My best friend ,Lawrence, and I knew that it was time for us to move, again. This will be my eighteenth time moving. People wonder how I'm okay with all this moving. To be honest, the first five times were the hardest, now, I'm used to it. I've never actually stayed in one place for more than a year. It's a complicated situation. "Look at this place. It looks much better than are last house." It's kind of hard to see because it's really dark outside. The house is square shaped with a flat roof. In front of the house there's a Japanese maple tree and pretty green bushes..at least I think they are green. "Look! It even has a garage," he shrieks with excitement as we get closer to the house. Most of the homes that we lived in together (this is only out fourth time being house mates) were really crappy and run down. He gets out of the car then lifts up the garage door. "There must be a control around here somewhere," he mutters to himself. I put my window down and tell him to get back in the car. "Just give me a minute!" "Let's worry about the garage remote later. Lets get unpacked first!" "Fineee.."he groans as he slumps back over to the car. He turns the car into the driveway then parks it. "There. You happy? Now we have to park in the driveway." I laugh and roll my eyes. We both open the doors, get out then walk over to the trunk of the car and begin pulling things out of it. "Do you have the keys to the house?" I ask unsure because I know for a fact that I don't have them. "Yeah. It should be somewhere in my suitcase." Lawrence begins digging through his suitcase. He mumbles something under his breath as he pulls out a shiny, silver key. "Here it is." "Okay. Grab some stuff and let's go in." We both grab big handfuls of bags and suitcases then drag them up to the door. "Let's see what the inside looks like." We never actually seen the house before. We just bought it before we left our last one. The door slowly creaks open. It's pitch dark inside, but we walk in anyways. "Maybe we should turn on some lights.." I search for a light switch, patting every part of the wall until I find one. "Ah, here it's is." I flip the switch up, but to our surprise, it doesn't turn on a light. It turns on the fireplace. "It even has a fireplace! Isn't that awesome?" "Sure..I guess. Lets just find the light switch." "Oh..okay." I walk around using the little bit of light from the fire. "I think I found it," Lawrence says from across the room. I feel a gush of air hit my back. "That's the ceiling fan you idiot!" "Oh..oops." The air disappears. We both continue looking. "Where the fuck is the light switch?" I mutter. My hand brushes over something on the wall. I'm pretty sure that this should do it. I flip the switch and the room then lights up. Finally. The house already has furniture in it (the furniture came with the purchase of the house). This house is actually pretty nice..better than I though it would be. I turn on all the downstairs lights, looking around each room. The house isn't that big. It's like the size of a normal house. Each of the rooms in the house have a different design scheme. Its pretty cool. Speaking of rooms, I better go pick mine before Lawrence. I dash upstairs with my bag and begin to look through the bedrooms. When I get to the room at the end of the hallway, I stare at the doors for a moment. This room has two doors. Not one like the others. This one has two. I open up both the doors then walk in. It has cream colored walls with a shiny wooden floor. There's a queen sized bed in the back of the room with a pretty brown carpet in front of it. The room also has a walk in closet, a bathroom, dresser, couch and flat screen tv. This room is perfect. I lay my bags down on the floor then flop onto the bed. "Shit! You got the cool room!" I sit up to see Lawrence with all his bags piled up in his arms. "Oh well. Maybe you should have been quicker," I smirk at him. He laughs a little. "Well Garret, you should get going to bed. You have a big day in front of you tomorrow." Oh right. School. The worst part about moving. After going to about fourteen different schools, it gets kind of annoying. "Yeah. Right." "Set your alarm clock for four." "Four in the morning?" "Remember. Training?" My face goes blank. I don't want to get up at four. "Whatever. Just be up." He turns around and walks out, shutting the doors behind him. I slump back down into my bed. Now you might be wondering why we are training and what it's for. It's because of a secret that no one can know. We are aliens.
