Juvenile Rehab Snippet 1 She wanted a cup of tea. No, she was craving something better than the weak milky crap they served at the cafeteria. Then again, juvi rehab was about this: having everything taken away from you except the bare essentials. You weren't supposed to enjoy it. Though, she was craving a caffeine fix and found herself racking her brains for any idea of a place to go. /The smuggling ring/, she realised after a few seconds and rose from her chair, moving to the door. It was late, later than she should be out or probably even awake, but Nat honestly found it hard to sleep without a tea. How stereotypical of her; the English person wanting a cup of tea. Glancing down at her pyjamas, she grabbed a Cardigan to cover over her vest. There was little she could do about her cut-off bottoms. She wrapped the Cardigan - a flamboyant pink colour she had brought with her just to piss off administration - around her as she trod quietly, quickly and barefoot down the boys halls. It was dark, long passed lights out, and her eyes shot everywhere as though that would warn her better should someone decide she was an easy target. It wouldn't but thankfully neither would anyone. Hovering in front of the door she knew was his, Nazar pressed her ear to the door but didn't actually touch the cold wood with her skin. She could hear two voices inside, one vaguely familiar, as well as a guitar strumming. He definitely wasn't sleeping. Her pale hand reached, luminescent, into the gloom ahead of her and knocked twice, quietly. It was a timid knock, though she had not intended it to be. "Who is it?" Robert's voice was rough with emotion, or fatigue. Nat felt as though it was too late to be shouting as he was, and when she replied it was significantly quieter. "Nat Price," There was a stunned silence on the other side of the door followed by a few seconds worth of whispering too low for her ears to pick up. "What do you want?" "Can I talk to you?" He could have told her they were already talking and she knew that, so did he, but the meaning in her words was clear: /Don't leave me to stand outside in the corridor any longer than necessary./ There was a thump against the door and it swung open but Robert was sitting in his fold-out chair with the guitar, on his bed lounged Daniel, who sat up as she entered, wrapping his limbs around the ladder leading to top bunk. They were both looking at her expectantly. A sudden wave of sleepiness (probably caused by her recent lack of decent caffeine) washed over her and she leant her side against the door frame. "Not to be rude, Nat, but you are here for a reason, right?" Robert seemed genuinely concerned about hurting her feelings and it made a smile flicker around the corners of her mouth. "Um, yeah, but it's kinda stupid." She wanted to scowl at how she turned so easily into a bumbling mess with Daniel in the room, watching silently with those goddamned eyes of his, the side of his mouth turned up in a heartbreaking smile at her words. Robert's smile was kinder, "I doubt it, you strike me as intelligent enough." "Annie mentioned you're the guy to come to if I need stuff from... Outside." She felt like she was in a movie, this was so surreal. His eyebrow quirked and Daniel shot him a 'told you so' look he refused to acknowledge. "Oh did she?" He murmured, spiking curiosity in Nazar. "Yeah, she did and I was wondering - I know it's late but you didn't seem as though you were sleeping. I'll pay double too." She tacked it on as an afterthought, realising how rude she'd been. Robert was watching with a polite look on his face whereas Daniel looked unashamedly amused. "You wouldn't happen to have decent tea?" Daniel roared loudly with laughter, causing Nat to recoil and shush him before thinking about it. "I'm sorry, what?" He asked, surprised that he'd been shushed by a child so much younger than him. It wasn't often he was shushed by anyone. "I said to shush. It's late and the last thing I need is to draw attention to myself." She figured, too late, that she had given away too much information to them with her statement. It showed fear and consequently weakness in her, something she probably should've avoided letting happen. The boys, however, merely met each others eyes for a few seconds that felt an eternity to her. Finally, she summoned the courage to speak again, "So, um, Robert?" He looked at her, apparently surprised she was still there. "Oh yeah, I have tea. I'll have to brew it here though." "That's fine." She mumbled, her craving overwhelming the brain wave that told her it was dangerous to stay out of her room any longer than necessary. "Come in then, close the door." Judging by the looks on their faces after she looked at them, she looked every bit the deer in headlights that she felt. This was something she had to do on her own though, to prove she trusted them. Did she trust them? There wasn't a significant hesitation before she closed the door. Half a smile worked it's way onto Robert's face, Daniel had barely stopped grinning. "Take a seat." Robert made a lazy attempt at a flourish with one arm. She shifted on the spot before letting her legs fall from under her and landing on the floor with her back against the door. "Um, what do I, er, owe you?" She asked once Robert had stood, strode to his wardrobe and pulled out a kettle. In way of response he shot her a sneaky half-smile, "Weren't you the one who told Annie on your first day that the price would be some kind of sexual favour?" Nazar felt the colour rising in her face, "Yeah but she said that you- that you didn't..." Now she was torn between running and staying, unsure of whether or not this was a joke. Daniel scowled for the first time since she had entered the room, "You really think the worst of us." His eyes spoke volumes and Nat unconsciously shifted her bum further into the door, though it didn't stop her sharp response. "You've given me no cause to think differently." There was a pause that extended beyond comfortable before finally Robert chuckled, the sound forced and too short to ever pass as natural. "Finally a chick who can outwit you, Danny. About time too." Daniel muttered his agreement with the tone of a death threat and Nazar glared furiously at a patch of carpet beside her thigh. It had been stupid of her to come here, she had known this, so why was she so surprised when things fell so quickly into ruin? For several long minutes after Daniel's utterance, the trio listened to the kettle boiling and the sounds splashing, scolding water made as it flew up the insides.
