The Death Of Catherine Thorne: Part 1
She was dead, in the middle of a dark alley. Dead. A bloody knife sticking out of her side. I clutched the box in my pocket, with tears dripping down my cold, pale face, i looked up to the heavens and screamed her name "CATHY!!!"
Being a forensic scientist, i see a lot of shocking things, yet i never thought that i would have to examine my girlfriends corpse. Once again i held onto the box in my pocket. But this time i opened it, watching the diamond ring sparkle in the sunlight. "Frost, whats taking so long with this?" It was my boss. He was kind of two faced in a way. Sometimes your best friend, and sometimes your worst enemy. "I was going to propose to her that night" i trembled. Trying not to break out crying in front of my boss. "Listen, i know that this is tough for you, but we really need this evidence asap. Then we can help bring the sicko who murdered catherine to justice" i felt like i was visiting a middle school guidance councillor. "Yes sir, right away" i stuttered.
I examined her carefully, making sure to take a glimpse at every cut and bruise on her body. But in the end i just ended up staring at her ghostly pale face, her beautiful milky coffee coloured skin, ruby red lips, almond shaped eyes. And what killed me was that they were still open. I gently closed them with salty tears stinging my own.
It was 5 months later, we were no closer to figuring out who killed cathy. As i was about to set up in the lab, i heard a familiar voice. "James, are you here?" It was Emma, my best friend. "Oh, hey you" i said, as cheerily as i could manage, "seem a little down" i was furious at how quirky she was being. "A little down? No! im fine my girlfriend just died but no big deal! Im FINE" i shouldnt have done that, "james, i know you're upset but, thats just low. She stormed out of the lab and tears once again streaked my cold face...
