The New World Coming to America was nothing how I ever imagined. The most spectacular sight was see the harbor as the boat pulling up. All you could see was industry. The Empire that solely was based on its working inhabitants. Land of the Free they call it. Who would toss up the chance to get a piece of that? The name was Frank Clemente. I was with my two younger brothers, Otto and Emilio. They were identical twins and were always up to something. If you saw them you probably couldn't tell them apart, but Otto has a little patch on his eyebrow where the hair doesn't grow. Ma was cooking and when Otto was just old enough to walk found his was to the kitchen and accidentally spilt some hot oil off of the oven. Gave him a little burn mark. that has been the only way to tell them apart. Emilio doesn't talk much. He says his peace here and there but you'd be lucky to have a full conversation. The only time we do find Emilio talking his lot is with Otto. Ma and Pa couldn't come with us. They couldn't leave the vineyard, its had the Clemente name since the beginning. Its been with our family for generations. I don't blame them, but everyone knew it was a lost cause. More money was going out faster than it was coming in. Ma and Pa knew that the only way for us to carry the family name was to get out while we still can. The last thing they said to me before we left was to keep Otto and Emilio safe. I promised them that everything would be fine. With that said we hopped aboard our ship to freedom as all the passengers call it. Coming from Sicily to the Grand Manhattan was definitely a big change. The city boomed with entrepreneurship and entertainment. I gripped the side rail of the ship tightly and it slowly got closer to the harbor. All over the harbor was hundreds of people. Tourists, workers, sailers, just about all types of people. Some of the passengers huddled around the front of the ship. Shoulder to shoulder pushing people to get a better view of the harbor. It was quite amazing. The ship made a loud bellowing sound as it slowed up to the port. Otto and Emilio came up from the crowd behind me. Otto put his arm around my shoulders. "Can you believe it, brother? We made it." He said as he stared into the bay. "Listen we're going to find a place to sleep before you and Emilio go off to see the town, alright?" I turned to see him."Also, we have to find some honest work, you hear me?" I had to remind him. Emilio and him are well known to find easy money, not necessarily legal money. "Relax Frankie, it's a new #life. A new honest #life." He smiled. I found it a bit mischievous. I looked to Emilio. He just shrugged and turned back to face to scenery. I decided not to get into it. I turned and faced the giant city. "Welcome to the new world boys."
