Soul's Horizon I found my soul a mile away, From where I left it last. Ambling to a distant point, No future, nor present, nor past. I slowed and matched each weary step, A trudge echoing my mood. We neither spoke, nor raised a sigh, Alone, with just our solitude. I lowered my eyes to watch the dirt, Annointed by my tears. Adrift upon a barren land, Soulless footprints trail the years. I yearn to drop down to my knees, And claw into the ground. A shallow grave for a hollow heart, It beats with not a sound. I left my soul again today, Without a second glance. Watching as it meandered on, To horizons new, perchance. Copyright (c) TheClockworkPoet 04/06/17 #beginninglinechallenge #lazypenmanship
My Own Can you still make me stomach your acidic tears, Yet deny me my own? Shall I keep searching for the remnants of your non-existent heart, Amongst the forgotten shards of my own? Must I keep making choices to fail to satisfy you, Whilst I bid farewell to ambitions of my own? Who are you to define what you have no right to, My #life is something you demand, but can never own? I am who I am. I am my own.
Restoration Cast upon my clockwork heart, ~Abrassive love to scour it's parts. Oil it's inner cogs and gears, ~To smooth the friction of the years. Reinstate the absent mainspring, ~That tore itself asunder. Dust off the key that winds the coil, ~And fill this heart with wonder. Copyright (c) TheClockworkPoet 7th June 2016
