They were both young, students at the same university. Essex, to be exact. Her parents disapproved, disowned her, were disgusted. His were elated, celebrated, couldn't wait to set the date. And in amongst it all they were there, together, lost in each other. It didn't last long, not really. Eight years, maybe. Long enough for it to be painful for everyone involved. She didn't trust him. Moved away to some obscure place. That's just her; spontaneous. He wasn't sorry. Went to the city, more work there. That's just him; workaholic. They've got their new families now. New houses, new friends, new children, even. They weren't meant to meet. They'd have probably been happier if they hadn't. But they did. Two elements reacted and it was utter chaos. They weren't meant to meet. But they did. And now I'm here.
