Monsters When I was a child I used to be scared Of the monsters who lived Under my bed. There was Harry and Sue, And mean Old Jack too. They were big and hairy, (And to me seemed rather scary!) When I was a teen, The monster was me I'd yell and I'd scream, Slam doors, refuse my tea. The monsters were bullies The pretty kids The 'popular crowd' They were the ones I was scared of, then. As I grew older, they changed once again, Morphed into something more scary. For now that I'm grown, The monsters I see, are far more deadly to me There's pride and envy, They're the worst I fear They're smarter and harder, And their claws are much sharper, Beware they don't catch you!
