Achack She turned her gaze upon me and the hatred she regarded the men with had vanished. In its place was a kindness that spread a warmth from the tip of my ears to the end of my dock. This woman makes me feel safer than I have in years, and safer than I ever have in the presence of humans. 'You poor baby. You knew what they were trying to do with you didn't you. That's why you ran. Well I can assure you, I will never harm you' she spoke in a whisper and although I can't understand what she is saying to me, her tone and energy puts me at ease. She picks up a rope and approaches me slowly speaking soothingly to me as she dose. It is the first time I have been approached and not had an overpowering urge to run. Somehow I knew I would be safe with her. As she lifted the rope to my head I flinched slightly, a result of the many beatings I had received at the hands of wicked humans. She gently places the rope around my head whispering sweet words to me as she dose. 'Now your going to have to walk a bit with me, it's ok boy. Well get you into a nice cosy stable and let you relax' She gave a gentle pull on the rope and a soft click with her tongue. It was something I was used to, the men used this noise to make me run for hours until my legs could cary me no more and then they would jump on my back. I would be exhausted but me instinct would tell me to get them off, however when I tried they beat me. The memory of this made me jump forward at the noise and try to canter off. The woman was strong for her small frame and she hung on to the end of the rope hushing me and telling me it was ok. Once I had calmed down she tried again and this time it didn't evoke suck a strong reaction. She tried over and over until I was able to walk steadily at her side. She leads me to a stable who's floor is covered with some sort of hard yellowish grass like substance I am not familiar with. 'Now take a rest in on the straw and I'll fetch you some haylage' she said kindly.
