The Dark Knight Rises - Brief Review Okay - I've been excited about this film since I heard about it - quite a while ago. Having waited so long to see it then, I can now say that it did not disappoint me in the slightest. It was FANTASTIC!! How does Christopher Nolan do this? Before this I thought Inception was his best, with a VERY close 2nd being The Dark Knight. Both previous films are also excellent (the highlight without a doubt being Heath Ledger (RIP)) but this film somehow manages to beat both without Heath Ledger!! Acting, as always in these films, wonderful. The old characters like Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman continue to be wonderful, believable and admirable. Then the new characters played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Tom Hardy are more than welcome. Wonderfully accurate you'll find yourself drawn into the characters from the beginning. The writing compliments the acting largely because it is a rather emotional film - typical of Nolan to emphasise the dark atmosphere we love in films today. This isn't merely a character-driven drama however. I mean, this is a Batman film! And the action could not be better!! The new and old toys from WayneTech are fantastic to watch and the fight scenes glorious and intensely exciting. Bane does indeed match Batman mentally and physically making it even more thrilling. Fight scenes, chase scenes - all the best I've seen out of all films - and that's a hell of a lot of films!! All I can say is...go see it!! It's a fantastic film and you won't be disappointed. If acting and action at their best doesn't draw you, add in the terrific twists which make the whole experience a memorable masterpiece. A fitting end to arguably one of the greatest trilogies of all time.
