The Sprites of time (Part One)
Chapter 1
One bright sunny sunday afternoon in Tokyo, Hana Watanabe was sitting in her bed room listening to her music. She was just an average Japanese girl that is until a mysterious new boy showed up at her school and told her "Beware of the sprites." She thought he was insane, all of her friends thought he was insane, even her sensei thought he was a bit strange.
She was back to school the next day and the new boy was there in the same corner of the field he was the day before the boy was just standing there by himself staring at her! Hana smiled he just stared at her, it seemed to her that he wasn't blinking but she thought that she was was just being silly. Her friend Hoshi said "You should just go say hi to him!" Yet Hana was waiting for him to come over and say something normal.
In class she was sure her sensei was speaking Japanese but she either just couldn't hear Nakamura San or couldn't understand! Her sensei asked her a question but she couldn't answer because she hadn't been listening, in fact she had been drawing the boy on her book so she had to stay in at lunch sharpening all the pencils and testing all of the markers in her classroom.
At home she told her big sister Sakurako who then said "Just talk to him and get to know him better before you judge him." That was it, she had to say something to him the next day maybe then she would understand the whole sprites thing!
Chapter 2
The following morning it was Tuesday and it was also the day Hana would talk to the mysterious new boy.She was determined to find out what was going on in his head. She walked up to him as casually as possible with Hoshi standing a few yards away from them she said "Hey."
"Hi" he said quietly. Hana didn't know what to say next so she just smiled and muttered "Soooooo" The boy just stared at her with huge, wide, sparkling blue eyes she hadn't really noticed how huge they really were. "Whats your name? What school did you go to before this one?"
"I am Daichi Saitou. I didn't go to a school, I was home schooled, what about you!" Hana replied
"I am Hana Watanabe!" Daichi smiled for the first time since the start of school.
Hana went home the happiest she had ever been in her #life! She couldn't wait to see Daichi again the next day! Her mother Ruri was so glad that Hana was so happy that they went out for sushi at their favourite restaurant. Her father Kazaki was surprised at how sociable Hana had become all of a sudden!
On Wednesday Daichi didn't show up at school Hana was worried that he had decided to go to home school again! The school bell rang and at that moment there was Daichi suddenly standing in his favourite corner. She could have sworn he wasn't there before!
In class Daichi sat next to her but didn't even look at her she felt like she was invisible to him but hey maybe she was!
Chapter 3
Hana went home a little bit annoyed that Daichi hadn't spoken to her that day! She flung herself onto the bed when she heard a tiny squeal! She was very surprised, in fact she was even more surprised when she pulled back her covers to reveal seven tiny people with cute brown and green frocks and tunics with little elf hats and pointy shoes and they had little silvery wings!!!
She put her hand over her mouth to block the scream that was about to come. "Shhhhhhhhh. do not be afraid!" said the littlest one. "What are you?" asked Hana
"We are the sprites of time!" said the only boy.
"I am Millennium," said the largest one "And these are my sisters and brother Century, Decade, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow and Fortnight!
"Well, ummm hello!" said Hana quietly as to not disturb her family. Wait a second she thought. Didn't Daichi say to "Beware of the sprites!"
"I think you should leave now or my mother will wonder who I'm speaking to. So Konichiwa and Arigato!"
"But we just got here please let us stay!" said Century. Hana wasn't very happy about it but she took them down to her garden pond because next to her old dogs kennel with blankets and pillows inside.
On Thursday Hana went straight over to Daichi instead of Hoshi and asked him why he had told her to beware of the sprites. "Daichi, why did you say to beware of the sprites?" asked Hana Daichi just looked at her and after a few seconds said "You wouldn't understand! It's a little bit complicated!"
"But I would understand because They came to me! Whats so bad about them?" Hana desperately wanted to know what was so dangerous about those little creatures.
The next day was the last day of the week and Hana was still trying to find out the secret. Daichi walked up to her and said he needed a word with her and Hoshi. When they were all alone he said "Look, I know you will think I'm insane but there are these things called The Sprites of Time and they are after you two and me because we are different. We are not like other kids, we have powers that are unknown and with time we will master our powers and defeat sprites and save our planet! Are you willing to join me?"
"Are you completely crazy, no way is there little sprites after our guts!" yelled Hoshi. "Shhhhhh be quiet you sound insane!" whispered Hana. "Look Hoshi its true the sprites are living in my dog house I will even show you the sprites in my garden!" Hana so wanted Hoshi to help so she invited her to see the sprites. "Daichi I promise we will think about it and tell you our decision tomorrow! Can I get your phone number?"
Daichi scrawled a number messily onto a piece of paper that Hoshi handed him. Hana then stuffed it into her bag.
Chapter 4
When the girls got to Hana's house, the first thing they did was go down to the garden to see the sprites. They were all asleep accept for the the only boy, Tomorrow. "Why are you the only one awake, Tomorrow?" Whispered Hana. Tomorrow just shrugged his shoulders and mumbled what sounded like "Not tired." So Hana and Hoshi left the sprites
in peace.
When the girls got back to Hana's room, they called Daichi. "H Hello is this Daichi?"said Hoshi slowly.
"Yeah its me who is this?" Daichi replied. "Is this Hana?"
"No its me Hoshi but Hana is here as well!" Hana then replied "Daichi I've decided to help you! What about you Hoshi?" Hoshi wasn't sure, the sprites were so cute, tiny and helpless! "Come on Hoshi we need you, our planet, needs you!!!" Hana said. Hoshi thought about it and finally said "Ok then but only 'cuz you guys are my friends!"
Hana was a little bit scared, but she thought that was silly because the sprites were only about a twentieth of her size they were the size of a pear some were even smaller!
Chapter 5
Mr and Mrs Watanabe couldn't get Hana to get up she just got out of bed and flopped right back in. The reason for this was she was texting Hoshi and Daichi all night. Hana had been watching the sprites very closely they weren't doing anything suspicious but she trusted Daichi, if he thought they were bad news then they must be.
When she finally got to school she arrived just as the bell rang and Daichi wasn't in his corner alone he was with with Hoshi looking very worried! "Hey Hoshi hey Daichi!" She yelled from across the field but her two best friends were beginning to run to the door. "Hana come to the door we have to tell you something!" So Hana ran towards her friends to talk to them about what had happened to make them so worried. "Hana, have you seen the sprites recently?" Asked Daichi…Part two coming soon
