Somewhere Brighter I use to hide in the shadows Where you preferred me to be Weak and subdued With no will to be free Then out of the blue Some light shed on me No longer trapped in the dark Where no one could see Sometimes I revisit That place of misery Where trust never lived And love came with a fee But I don't linger long Amongst the remaining debris I belong somewhere brighter So from your darkness I flee #poetry #rhyme #brighterfuture

In the Sand I don't know where to go There's not a path that I can see Surrounded by nothing but walls Trapped in myself This must surely be my destiny No direction needed When there's nowhere you can go Up is not an option I've got no means to scale the wall I fear the ground will turn to quicksand Yet I relish sinking down -An exit is an exit after all Maybe down is my freedom It sure makes sense To drown in sand Where I've spent my whole #life Burying everything From my toes to my head Fitting that I should suffocate In the same sand That holds treasure chests Filled with my sorrows and regrets A piece of my heart buried here Another piece there Down Down Down in the sand

Gone Tomorrow Dead limbs Hanging low The fullest moon Without its glow Flower petals Dying slow Heatless sun No shine to show Dried up rivers Cease to flow So many roads No place to go Freedom rotting On death row No music on The radio Caught up in The undertow Here today Gone tomorrow Where this came from? You Taught Me To Survive Alone For all the nights I laid in bed With saddened thoughts stuck in my head Alone, I wondered where you went While striving to recall your scent I guess you wanted me to learn How to sleep at peace till your return For all the times you weren't at your phone Left crying to thin air and a dial tone Denied your voice to calm my fears No one to wipe away my tears I guess you just wanted me to know How to cope by myself when you'd have to go For every time some floozy spread Laid out for you in your hotel bed While I was holding down the fort Four kids and me, without your support I guess you left me all alone To teach me to survive on my own #poetry #lifelessons
