"Chapter one" Trails Of A Wolf Trails of a Wolf Chapter One The full#moonfloated high above in the sky. Yet, another day of sorrow. I could feel a sharp pain prick at my side, like a needle into a paw. The wolf's gentle pale-gray fur brushed quietly in the breeze, sending a shiver to her spine. My eyes carefully shifted from one wolf to another, this time we were lucky not to have lost yet another wolf. I could feel my chest rattled as I let out a raspy breath as I turned, startled to see my father approaching. I knew, he was getting old. And it would soon be my time to take my rightful place as Alpha. "Are you alright?" his gentle voice caught me by surprise. Nodding briefly, I simply replied, "I'm fine..." Though, I could still see the grief hidden behind his warm yellow eyes. It's been a#moonsince his mate, my mother, passed away. Gratefully, she died a normal death, one of old age. She was lucky, for that matter. He nodded lightly and went to sit down, letting out a small grunt as he did so. "I don't think the pack could handle anymore of this... We've lost many in the past moon. I'm planning to leave..." he murmured. I watched his eyes move on towards the distance, past the mountains surrounding our territory. Peering at him, I shook my head. "No, we can't... This has been our territory for generations. Our ancestors fought for this land... We just need to keep our hopes up. And it will lead us to success in the future." though, the elderly wolf shook his head and and slowly, his gaze moved on towards where his paws rested. "We can't even have a normal hunt anymore, not with those wolves here..." he murmured. "then we'll force them to move, this is our territory. And I'm not willing to give it up without us striking them in return..." a soft growl began to rise in her throat. "very-well," the elderly alpha stood up slowly, his limbs almost giving way, "assemble the pack, we'll discuss the situation then." he ordered. To be continued...
