The Age Of Dragons Note: This is 100% Fictional. I thought of this looking at an Asia album cover ( rock out to Heat of the Moment! Woo! (two dragon based works of lit! Woo!)). Now for something completely different. Long ago, when man was still learning the ways of the world, dragons still roamed the world. The ancients said that they were magnificent, terrible beings. To see one was to live and die in the same instance it was said. My father told me about his father's father and his encounter with one such beast. He stood on a bank near the sea as the sun was being swallowed by the water. He looked into the serene water as his fishing line sank, as with the sun. He attempted to pull the line up but it was as if the line were affixed to a large boulder. He continued to pull and as he did the line gained a lightness. After pulling for a few minutes, he noticed a form rising from the water. It slowly snaked out of the water, the sea rolling off its back. A great roaring, like that of thunder, rang throughout the land. It rose in the air and turned to my grandfather. "Human," as my family recorded it saying, " Why have you sunk this thing into me?" My grandfather, though shocked, replied, " I seek only to eat." The dragon seemed to grin, " Shall we make a deal then?" it paused and took a scale from his back, " If you carry around this scale you will be granted great luck, luck beyond your imagining. Just remove this from me and let me go. " My grandfather did as the dragon asked and took the scale. For weeks he brought into his house an abundance of fish. But like all good things it didn't last. In the night a man stole the scale. The next day my grandfather looked for the dragon, but he could not find him. He returned home disappointed by this. Though this account ends here and dragons have left this world, all is not forsaken. My grandfather still found my grandmother. I believe that the dragon truly blessed my family, for my father said if it were not for him my family wouldn't exist.
